Howsabout a mediocre sum of money?

Just last week I responded on the engine to back the ambulance on a working code. In this service, they have the EZ-IO but, since there's no really good way to carry it on or in your bags into a scene (HINT) Hey Vidacare! (/HINT) they carry it in the back of a cabinet and most of the time, they forget it.

I grabbed it. To prove a point. While one of the other medics was trying to poke an IV in the AC of this patient, I spiked a bag, ran down a line, and then drilled a patient before he found a vein. I had it all done inside of 30 seconds.

I really like the EZ-IO.

Oh, and Vidacare. Could you please mark the Peds, adult, and obese needles more clearly? Those things are expensive when you open up the wrong one.

This is Steve Dralle, I am in charge of marketing with Vidacare, the makers of the EZ-IO. While I cannot offer you a huge sum of money I can offer you my thanks for spreading the word about IO.

Steve Dralle

We have just taken on the ez-io too, but I'm waiting for my training day. I have to say that I am looking forward to having it as an option but I am a little concerned that some may reach for it when an IV would suffice (you know the type I mean).

As for the guy getting the sternal IO - is he mad or what!!!!

And as for you getting tazered, I don't believe it! I think you are lying and have obviously made it up. I mean, I would believe you if there really was some video proof bu since you aren't showing us it must be a load of ......!!! ;-)

Just post the video already!

We've had the EZ-IO for a few years in my service. I'm with you, CK, it's great. First tool I reach for in a cardiac arrest situation.

I had to do one on a conscious teenager in front of Mom once; that was interesting. "Mom, look away. I need to do this and you don't want to watch. . ."

We just introduced the EZ IO to our protocols and started carrying them on the ambulance. My level of ALS cannot use them but hopefully that will change. I do remember a few years ago watching a flight medic use one on a patient that had fractured every extremity. The medic said "ok quick pinch" And started to drill. I know I sat there with my mouth wide open looking dumbfounded. The pt screamed his head off but they got the access they needed to give himt he medications needed.
