Great post! I completely agree that an EMT should become an expert in pre-hospital care. I read every email and newsletter that my department’s EMS coordinator sends out. When there is a continuing education class offered, (Usually free of charge by local hospitals or ambulance companies) I ask myself two questions: Do I know the subject well enough not to take it? Do I need more practice on the subject? I don’t ask myself do I need CEs for my license. I truly wonder how many EMS personal what until their license is due to renew to take all the CEs at once? Doctors read books, magazines, and newsletters all the time to stay current. We should too!
