Hi Chris,

I have never had to let anyone use the bedpan on the ambulance yet, although I wouldnt have a problem if they really, really wanted to! Lets face it, if you havent had someone elses faeces on you at some point in your ambulance career, you must work in a really quiet system!!

We have a great new toy to play with for when someone needs to go pee-pee :

Wonderful post! I'm going into emerg nursing, and had a conversation with an upstairs nurse about just this subject – “They can hold it till they get to you professionals”, I happily told them. Somehow, I don't think it's going to work out that way.

Chris, thanks for what you and all other medical professionals do. I can't take anyone drinking from my cup – and the opposite – much less having anyone's spit, vomit or other bodily fluids *shudder* come near me. Hard to believe I once wanted to be a nurse.
